Statement

I am inspired by architecture as a vehicle for revealing personal and communal histories. I build symbolic cities of miniature forms made from a variety of materials, from clay to paper to plaster. I arrange these forms into patterned landscapes on tables, as wall-based reliefs, or on paper. Influenced by my Middle Eastern heritage, these works are a reinterpretation of carpets, reliquaries, and manuscripts and feature a high level of ornamentation. All my work is a utopian search for order and beauty, as I channel the urban landscape through rigorous crafting to share memories and stories.
