Hand Dances is a series of short music videos that bring the artist's private fantasy world to life. Each dance is a microcosm of a production: the costumes are sculptural fake fingernails; the audio element is music or "found" noises; the set is carefully selected locations in the home; and the performer is the artist's hands. The hand acts as a parallel to the body in its expressive possibilities, with hundreds of movements and gestures conveying strange and idiosyncratic fantasies, desires, emotions and moods. The dances are less about dance, then about poignantly inventing a world out of the mundane objects and settings of domestic life.
